Taking it easy (beating the heat)

Friday, June 6

After seeing the Kilanders off on Wednesday morning we had planned to go out and to a little exploring of Lake Barkley and spending a night at anchor before coming back in Friday afternoon. With the winds gusting over 30, high temperatures in the 90s and lows in the mid 70s all with a high dew point we decided to just stay securely tied in the slip with the air conditioning running.

The Kilanders went south from here to visit a friend, they are returning for the night tonight, and then tomorrow they will drop me in St Charles on their way home. I will drive our van back here so we have it available. Diana has opted to stay with the deck hands and do some painting rather than spend eight hours in the car.

We hope to be out of here Sunday afternoon or Monday morning. The forecast is for continued hot, but the wind should be diminishing. We will slowly make our way up Lake Barkley to Nashville and into Old Hickory Lake, then return to the Nashville area to leave the boat at the end of the month to return to Minnesota for awhile.
