Well we made it we are back aboard Memories, ready to continue our adventure. We left home Tuesday morning and drove to southern Illinois. Wednesday we drove on to Nashville and were back aboard the boat by about 2:00 P.M. After hauling five large cartfuls of gear, clothes, food and cats from the car to the boat, then trying to put it all away, we had a light, late super and bed time came early.
The cats were not happy travelers. They are not happy in their carriers and will not just relax and sleep while we drive. They did OK in the motel room and once they got back on the boat they said this is familiar, OK we will check everything out again then we can relax.
Gibson appears to have completed everything on the warranty/repair list with the exception of one replacement item they are still waiting on.
Having been off the boat for over two months, what a mess, not only is there a great deal of general dust and dirt but six families of spiders fought turf wars over whose boat it is. In the end they declared a stalemate and each took a territory. It is going to take a couple of days of hard scrubbing.
Today we went shopping and filled the freezer and the cupboard; hopefully we will need just perishables during the next two months. This afternoon we started on the cleaning, got the fly bridge and mid deck done. The rest can wait for tomorrow.
Our plan is to go down the Cumberland River to Grand Rivers, KY where we can cross to the Tennessee River than go up river to Huntsville, AL and Chattanooga, TN and finally back to St Charles, MO area to put the boat in winter storage. The first part of the trip; 130 miles down the Cumberland and the first 160 miles up the Tenn. has only one lock, 25 miles from Nashville. Unbeknown to us it closed mid August for repair and will not reopen until September 10th. So we will be in Nashville a few extra days. I am glad I thru the schedule overboard last spring.
The next update will be a few days since we will be just sitting here cleaning, doing projects, and maybe a little site seeing by car.
